Pennsylvania Governor: Corbett (R) Reaches Highest Level of Support Yet Against Onorato (D)

Rasmussen Reports

Republican Tom Corbett now holds a 12-point lead over Democrat Dan Onorato in the race for Pennsylvania’s next governor.

The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone of Likely Voters shows Corbett, the state’s attorney general, picking up 53% of the vote. Onorato, Allegheny’s county executive, draws 41% of the vote. One percent (1%) prefer some other candidate while five percent (5%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

This is the first Rasmussen Reports survey of Pennsylvania’s gubernatorial race to include leaners. Leaners are those who initially indicate no preference for either of the candidates but answer a follow-up question and say they are leaning towards a particular candidate. Rasmussen Reports now considers results with leaners the primary indicator of the race.

When leaners are excluded from the totals, Corbett holds a 53% to 40% lead over Onorato.

In Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate race, Republican Pat Toomey still stands just short of 50% against Democrat Joe Sestak
