Arkansas Senate: Boozman (R) Still Trumps Lincoln (D)

Rasmussen Reports

Republican challenger John Boozman continues to lead incumbent Democrat Blanche Lincoln by nearly 20 points in Arkansas’ U.S. Senate race.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Arkansas shows Boozman earning 55% support, while Lincoln, arguably the nation’s most endangered Democratic senator, picks up 37% of the vote. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The race remains Solid GOP in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Senate Balance of Power rankings.

However, this is the first time that Boozman, a U.S. congressman who has led the race in surveys since February, has dropped out of the 60s since the spring. In August, he led Lincoln 65% to 27%, her lowest level of support to date.

In surveys since he won the Republican Primary in May, Boozman has earned 60% to 66% of the vote in matchups with Lincoln, who in turn has picked up 28% to 35% support.

Ninety-five percent (95%) of Arkansas Republicans support Boozman, while Lincoln has the backing of just 72% of Democrats. Voters not affiliated with either of the major parties prefer the GOP candidate by a better than two-to-one margin.

The survey of 500 Likely Voters in Arkansas was conducted on September 30, 2010 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Mike Beebe, Arkansas’ Democratic governor, continues to earn more than 50% support in his bid for reelection.

Twenty-two percent (22%) of the state’s voters say they are part of the Tea Party movement. Fifty-eight percent (58%) say they are not members, but another 19% are not sure. This is a higher level of Tea Party participation than is found nationally.
